ANIMATE
Premiered in 2022, ANIMATE (“Die Belebung") converges performance, installation, and radio play, through the combination of virtual and augmented reality with spatial sound technologies. Through this creative fusion the audience was embedded in an interactive environment that blurred the boundaries between the physical and digital realms, offering an extraordinary participatory journey.
This interdisciplinary initiative brings together a talented international team which infuses diverse creative perspectives and technological expertise into the project. More than just an artistic endeavor, ANIMATE seeks to tackle the pressing issue of climate catastrophe. Leveraging the creative potentials of technology, the project aims to create awareness and engagement with environmental challenges in a captivating and thought-provoking way.
Press:
»The VR dramaturgy remains strong throughout the work because Salter does not immerse his audience in the typical 360-degree all-encompassing film experience. Instead, the actors remain present as well as the enormous former factory space.«
— Nachkritk.de
»Salter’s work provides a taste of how the theater might look ten years from now.«
— Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
»Animate is a real artistic find, with an eminently political and committed purpose. This performance questions the forces of nature, showing us that nature is indeed a living organism that cannot be ignored.«
