FIBER Festival: Casimir Geelhoed at the Orgelpark


Sound artist and composer Casimir Geelhoed premiered his commissioned piece Deviations at FIBER Festival’s opening concert Organ/Body, which took place at the impressive Het Orgelpark in Amsterdam.

Breathing new life into an old instrument, Casimir’s performance combined the hyper-organ with live processing, using self-developed software. The sound piece featured a bespoke 12-channel 4DSOUND system, carefully fitted into the architecture of this historical venue.

“The contrast between order and chaos, stability and instability, and the direction of flowing sound thus become playable musical parameters. Groups of sounds spread through space like swarms, flow around like an overwhelming vortex, or fly up into the air” explains Casimir to Etienne Boileau. Continue reading here.
