Cosmic Bloom in 4DSOUND - Iris van Herpen Exhibition at Musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris
4DSOUND is part of “Sculpting the Senses”, Iris van Herpen’s exhibition at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. As a pioneer in the use of new technologies in her discipline, Iris van Herpen transcends conventional norms in clothing, infusing an interdisciplinary spirit into the traditional craftsmanship of Couture.
Salvador Breed, 4DSOUND co-founder, teamed up with several artists to imagine a spatial sound arrangement that engages in a dialogue with van Herpen’s unique Haute Couture universe. Each collaborator contributed to a global composition orchestrated by Breed, and powered by the 4DSOUND Engine.
The “Finale Room” features a 4DSOUND system made up of sixteen 3D printed speakers strategically placed across the space to render immersive sonic landscapes that evoke the infinite, mysterious, and elusive dimensions of the cosmos.
This particular system is made up of a special kind of omnidirectional speakers designed in partnership with architect Philip Beesley, a frequent collaborator of both 4DSOUND and Iris van Herpen.
World Premiere 29 November 2023. Showing until 28 April 2024.
