Nxt Museum
“Nxt is an experimental art space in Amsterdam dedicated to immersive exhibitions at the intersection of art, sound, and technology. Nxt commissions and presents ground-breaking museum installations by pioneering living artists.”

Nxt invited 4DSOUND to create a dedicated sound space, positioning sound as a cinematic gateway to the imagination. Spatial sound is presented as an artistic medium in its own right, alongside other technologies and artistic languages.
The programme opens with Origin, a collective composition by members of the 4DSOUND team. The piece is a curated collage exploring a wide range of possibilities in spatial sound design - setting the stage for the programme as it continues to evolve.
With Nxt and 4DSOUND both rooted in Amsterdam, the space is evolving through a close and ongoing partnership. Within the museum, it functions as a living lab: a place to present pure sound works, research audience reception, create new work, and develop and test different formats, including workshops and intimate concerts.
Technical Setup
The space features a hybrid 4DSOUND system combining 13 OmniDrive loudspeakers, eight directional surround speakers, a vibrational sound sofa, and a high-power subwoofer.
