Education
4DSOUND delivers workshops and masterclasses that provide a deep understanding of the practical application of the 4DSOUND Suite, and the fundamentals of spatial audio theory and design.
Courses can be shaped to cater to specific backgrounds, projects and scopes; from introductory workshops on spatial sound as a creative medium, to in-depth technical masterclasses on virtual acoustics and spatial sound synthesis. 4DSOUND courses are led by top spatial sound technicians and developers. They often feature guest speakers, including artists who have previously participated in a 4DSOUND residency or commission. This allows for discussions on both the technical and artistic possibilities, as well as the exploration of case studies and bespoke interpretations of 4DSOUND.
In the past years, 4DSOUND has partnered with several educational institutions. Since 2022, 4DSOUND has been providing the Music and Technology Department at the University of the Arts in Utrecht (HKU), spatial sound classes that focus on 4DSOUND technology and its application for sound spatialisation, immersive performance, composition, and interactive installations. Moreover, workshops have recently been held at MONOM Studios, Aural Spaces Festival, and DE SINGEL Antwerp. Other notable research projects include the EU Horizon 2020 XTREME project (2024-2026), which aims to revolutionize how art and music are experienced through a mixed reality (MR) environment. 4DSOUND has developed a studio at the IT University Copenhagen to allow for research between academics and experts.
4DSOUND is committed to enrich, expand and diversify the landscape of creatives working in the field of spatial sound.
